Integration guide

ARIA MCP integration.

Connect ARIA to your agent or MCP client.

Overview

This gives your agent access to ARIA, Convosight's social intelligence assistant, with real-time data across Facebook Groups, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit and other communities: brand sentiment, influencer performance, campaign tracking, audience insights and competitor benchmarking.

Standard MCP over Streamable HTTP, authenticated with OAuth 2.1 (Authorization Code + PKCE).

Use the Streamable HTTP transport. The path ends in /sse for legacy reasons.

What we need from you

  1. OAuth redirect/callback URI(s). The URL users should be sent back to after login, so we can register your app.
  2. Confirmation that your HTTP client tolerates long-running calls. ask_aria_text blocks until ARIA finishes researching, typically 2–3 minutes, sometimes longer. Set your agent's tool-call timeout (and anything proxying the request) well above that.

Send both to reachus@convosight.com.

Tool reference: ask_aria_text

Input

ParamTypeRequiredNotes
questionstringYesPass the user's question verbatim. No rephrasing.
session_idUUIDNoReturned from a prior call. Pass it on follow-ups in the same conversation to keep ARIA's context.

Output

  • Success: plain text in content[0].text; structuredContent = { answer, session_id }. The session_id lets you thread follow-ups.
  • Failure: content[0].text carries the error message; structuredContent = { error }.

Progress notifications (optional)

ask_aria_text holds the connection open for 2–3 minutes on average, sometimes up to 15. Your client can opt in to periodic status updates while ARIA is still researching.

1. Attach a progress token

When you send the tools/call request for ask_aria_text, include a progressToken in its _meta: any string or number you choose, unique to that call.

{
  "method": "tools/call",
  "params": {
    "name": "ask_aria_text",
    "arguments": { "question": "..." },
    "_meta": { "progressToken": "your-token-123" }
  }
}

2. Read the updates as they arrive

While ARIA is working, the server writes notifications/progress messages to the same HTTP response stream, ahead of the final result.

{
  "method": "notifications/progress",
  "params": {
    "progressToken": "your-token-123",
    "progress": 4,
    "message": "Scanning community posts..."
  }
}

3. Or skip it

Omitting progressToken is fine. ask_aria_text just returns the final answer with no interim messages.

Using an MCP SDK? Most official clients handle steps 1–2 for you. The TypeScript SDK's client.callTool(params, resultSchema, { onprogress }) attaches the token and calls onprogress(event) for each notification. Check your SDK's client docs for the equivalent option before wiring this up by hand.

FAQ

Convosight issues your login credentials (email and password) once your agreement is in place.

  1. ask_aria_text is a blocking call. It won't return until ARIA finishes or 15 minutes pass.
  2. Timeout: after 15 minutes you get back "ARIA is taking longer than expected to research this question. Please try asking again."
  3. Session or auth issues: "Your ARIA session has expired. Please reconnect the integration." (expired auth), "ARIA session not found. Try asking your question again." (session not found), or "ARIA is temporarily unavailable. Please try again in a moment." (backend issue).
  4. If ARIA can't answer for content reasons, that message comes back as the response text.
  5. All of these come back as a normal, successful response. There's no special error status code. Check the returned text, or the error field in the structured payload, rather than relying on request success or failure.
  6. We don't retry on timeout or transient failure. If you want retries, re-issue the call from your side.

ask_aria_text is currently the only tool exposed. It returns free-text prose, since it's designed as a plain-text response for non-UI clients.

No. They're purely additive. If your client doesn't send a progressToken, ask_aria_text simply returns the finished answer once ARIA is done.
